Churchill On Islam

Churchill On Islam

I want to thank Ed for the following Winston Churchill quote. It is much shorter than my last quote on Islamic Stealth Jihad….so it is an improvement! Also, it goes to the center of it all. The specter of an Islamic world is appalling for all who look objectively. For the politically correct, open border, one-world government bunch Churchill’s quote is profane heresy. In my view, it is good to stand “guilty as charged” with the likes of Winston Churchill.

Ed, I hope you will check into my blog from time to time and sound off whenever you wish. Agreement with me, and further discussion or amplification of my positions is happily accepted. On the other hand, differing points of view are happily provoked and enjoyed. Bring em’ on!

Thanks for that !! Too bad more people weren’t aware of Robert Spencer … and Churchill. Hope you don’t mind, but another quote of Churchill fits here very well;

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities — but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”

    There is one thing that always troubles me when discussing the Islam issue is the lack of reflection on other religions. I my no means am trying to minimize the inherent evils involved with a radical or fundamentalist approach to Islam. But there is no religion I can think of a religion that is not dangerous when practiced in a radical, fundamentalist, or rigid manner. Granted in modern times most regions have evolved beyond violent methods of proselytizing.

    I do have a personal theory on why Islam has been so slow to evolve. In the period of history of the Crusades Islamic and Arabic cultures were some of the most advanced in the world. Then came the Christians to reclaim the holy land from the infidels. Sounds eerily similar to the rhetoric involving fundy Muslims today. These crusades lasted for about a century. i hold that the endless wars stifled and almost ceased the evolution of Islamic culture, economically in particular.

    It is this retardation of economic development resulted in the only education coming from the Mosque. Economic development often results in a developing educational system, and also those who become skeptical of church or mosque’s teachings. Neither the education or skepticism were able to develop in the Arab world. This has put Islam centuries behind the development of the western world. This being so Islam is now beginning to experience similar growing pains that Christianity did a few short centuries ago. (E.G. Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, Salem witch trials, devaluing of women).
    This is no excuse for the evil and misogyny that is present in modern fundamentalist intrepretations of Islam. Christianity acted in a very similar way, as I mentioned earlier, a few centuries ago. Both were, and are, wrong.

    As for Muhammed, he is b no means the only religious figure to use violence. Historically Moses was a brutal general. Joshua razed Jericho, Popes ordered crusades, etc. Again not condoning the actions, just trying to add some perspective to the discussion.

    All of this points to the fact that the problem is not Islam itself, but the lack of development of Islam. If there is not an entity present to balance against the religion than the religion becomes perverted. That is what is wrong with Islam today, no balance in the Muslim world. I have always felt that blind faith in any religion is dangerous and a weak faith. A skeptical faith is the truest, strongest, and safest.
